What’s On: May - August 2014 p9 Wellspring Back at Work Program Spring 2014 Agenda DATE TIME SERIES Strategies for Managing Stress at Work with Elaine Hobbs, B.A., CCRC Thursday, May 29 6 - 8 pm The demands of work can feel never-ending. Often people feel that they lack the needed strength to manage the demands of their jobs. Also, the lack of abilities can lead to stress and anxiety. This session will explore how and why you feel stress when trying to manage, and how to pump up your abilities to manage the demands. Managing Fatigue Through Activity with Manesha Khazanchi, B.Sc, CSEP More and more research is showing that regular exercise has many health benefits, including reducing the risk for a cancer recurrence. How does regular exercise help Thursday, June 26 6 - 8 pm to keep our stamina and energy up? What’s better – cardio or weights? What is the true evidence between exercise and cancer risk? How do you start to jump on the exercise band wagon? This session will cover the latest information related to exercise and fatigue and offer suggestions on how to get active. This 2-part series is specifically directed at cancer patients who are back at work, dealing with the demands of the job. Each session will include a guest presentation on a specific topic, plus time for discussion with other members and questions with the speaker. Members who are back at work can come to any or all sessions in the series. A light supper will be served.
