inspiring we can help Welcome to Wellspring More than 85% of cancer patients experience the non-medical consequences of cancer and its treatment: the fear, anxiety, pain, financial worries, isolation, and guilt. Through one-to-one peer support, group support activities, learned coping skills, rehabilitation programs and much, much more, Wellspring has helped thousands of people take an active role in controlling their cancer experience to improve their quality of life. • Stress management • Education and information • Emotional well-being • Successful transitions back into the workforce • Health restoration and rehabilitation • Financial advice and management • Reduced fear and isolation At Wellspring, the focus is on the person, not the disease. As the leading network of cancer support centres in Canada, Wellspring is a sanctuary of understanding where cancer patients, at any stage in their cancer journey, as well as their family and caregivers, are welcome to participate in programming that will help them move forward with renewed strength, confidence and hope. Becoming a Member Becoming a Wellspring member is easy! Simply drop in to one of our GTA centres, and meet with a peer support volunteer who will help you get started. We know that taking that first step toward seeking help is difficult, but meeting with volunteers and a community of peers who have gone through a cancer experience, is an incredibly powerful first step on the road to well-being. What You Can Expect Wellspring charges no fees, and requires no medical referral. More than 18,000 members have belonged to the Wellspring community. Our members make more than 35,000 visits to our centres each year. Being part of the compassionate and understanding Wellspring community means having the opportunity to talk with others who have been through cancer, access experts and to share knowledge and experience in a warm, safe, encouraging and non-clinical environment. Every person who visits Wellspring is unique. We work with every member to identify resources that meet their particular needs and where they are on their cancer journey. Programs and Services Led by experienced professionals, including psychologists, physiotherapists, art therapists and dietitians, Wellspring’s more than 40 programs and services span a comprehensive range of categories, from individual and group support activities to learning coping skills, to expressive arts programs and to practical guidance in areas such as nutrition, financial management and workplace issues. All programming is evidence-based, and developed and piloted through the Wellspring Centre of Innovation.
